General location


Benton PA is a small, rural community located in northern Columbia County along the banks of famous Fishing Creek.

Directions


(From points west) Take Interstate 80 east to the Bloomsburg/Lightstreet exit. Take Rt. 487 north approximately 16 miles to Benton. Make an immediate left after crossing the bridge. The courts are located directly behind the fire hall.

(From points east) Take Interstate 80 west to the Bloomsburg/Lightstreet exit. Take Rt. 487 north approximately 16 miles to the town of Benton. Turn left immediately after crossing the bridge. The courts are directly behind the fire hall.

(From Harrisburg/Carlisle area) Butch’s favorite way: Take Rts. 11/15 north to where they split(Shamokin Dam). Take Rt. 11 north to Danville. At the first light in Danville, turn left and follow the signs to Interstate 80. Take Interstate 80 east to the Bloomsburg/Lightstreet exit. Take Rt 487 north approximately 16 miles to the town of Benton. Immediately after crossing the bridge make a left. The courts are directly behind the fire hall.

(From Binghamton NY) Butch’s favorite way: Take Interstate 81 south to Kirkwood. Come south on Rt. 29 all the way to Rt. 118. At the traffic light turn right and follow Rt. 118 west approximately 18 miles. Turn left onto Rt. 487 south and follow this to Benton. Travel through Benton, just before crossing the bridge turn right. The courts are located directly behind the fire hall.

Description of Pits

The Northern Columbia Horseshoe Courts consist of nine clay courts with full concrete walk-ways. A pavilion is located adjacent to the courts.
