Eastern
Pennsylvania Horseshoe Pitchers Association
EPHPA Directors Meeting
Selinsgrove Indoor
Facility
November 10, 2018
Tom Reuther
opened the meeting.
There were 10
present.
The minutes
from the April Members meeting were approved as published on a motion from Dale
Estep and seconded by Ron Baker.
Butch Young resigned
Tom Reuther
reported Butch Young has resigned as tournament director. Tom thanked Butch for his years of service
and all of his personal time he devoted to EPHPA. Tom Reuther stated he was thinking of running
a tournament in Benton with help from Rick Hawk and Dale Estep. Ron Baker will send Tom information for
Benton tournaments.
Treasurer report:
Denny Hall reported in Rob Dietz’s absence. Beginning balance of $20,543.37 and ending
balance of $18, 051.37. Tom Reuther
suggested we put $10,000 in a short term (2-3 years) CD. Motion was made by Dale Estep and seconded by
Mike Taylor. A question was raised
regarding why the different number of dues received for adults and the number
of disbursements. Denny Hall will check
with Rob Dietz regarding this matter.
Presidents report:
Tom Reuther voiced concern about the low attendance at the tournaments
this past year. Denny Hall reported
attendance at all of the 2018 tournaments was down. A discussion followed concerning how we
might be able to get more pitchers to come out for tournaments. Some thoughts were: state tournament run by vice presidents; make
the tournaments more spectator friendly example have a pig roast. Huntingdon has craft vendors during a
tournament. Tom emphasized for everyone
to invite people to come out and try pitching. Also suggested maybe hold double
tournaments on Saturday.
Web master:
Dale Estep reported for Lee Estep in her absence. Lee would like to step down as web
master. Tom Reuther thanked Lee for
doing this task as long as she has. Mike
Taylor and Justin Foster want to thank Lee for a fantastic job. Tom suggested at our tournaments in 2019 we
ask if anyone is interested in being the web master. We need to get information regarding the
Eastern Pennsylvania Horseshoe Association out on the social media.
Vice Presidents:
none present; Randy Zeiders
volunteered to serve as 3rd vice president.
Regional Director
Denny Hall
reported on 2018 rule changes.
Provisional and trial members.
Provisional members’ dues are $10 and are allowed to enter regular
tournaments for 1 year only (paying entry fee for each tournament). A provisional members statistic will be
reported to the NHPA. Trial members dues
are waived, and the member is allowed to enter one regular tournament paying
the entry fee for the tournament. A trial
members statistic will not be reported to the NHPA but they can win tournament
